Sister to the rescue!

Tonight I decided to let Breckin cry it out for a little while to see if he would go to sleep.  Before I knew it his sweet, kind, caring big sister ran in his room turned on his light and said "Mom, he is crying". By then I was walking in behind her and she went to his crib and he saw her and got a huge grin on his face.  It was so sweet, almost like he was saying thank you sister for coming to my rescue. Sometimes you just have to sit back and enjoy these moments instead of thinking that all your hard work is ruined.

Vacation

We went on a much needed family vacation last week.  Most people don't vacation in January but when it comes around it seems like we are all sick of winter and need some warmer weather.  We made our usual southern California trip.  We had family come along with us, Jeremy's brother Matt and his family and then my mom.  We went to Disneyland and spent time at the beach.  It was my mom's first time going so that was fun and she even rode the Tower of Terror.  Her favorite though was Soarin' California.  Savannah had grown a bit since we were last there so she got to ride a lot of the big kid rides like Soarin', Tower of Terror, Big Thunder Mountain, the Matterhorn and of course all of her favorite kids rides.  It was mid 70's while we were there and Disneyland was not as busy as usual. Though we had warm temperatures the ocean was still really cold. The life guard called us crazy but everyone said once you got your whole body wet you just went numb. It was Breckin's first time to Disneyland and the beach.  He did so well and enjoyed looking at everything from the stroller.  I took him on most of the kid rides.  He slept through both days at the beach which is just fine, it was one less kid to get sand off of. We got to see Jeremy's sister Melissa and her family while we were there.  We came back home very tired but we had a great time.

2 Little Princess's Sitting in a Fort.....

Savannah had a rough day last Friday.  She was pretty upset that she had no friends coming over but Dad did.  She really wanted to play with some of her friends so I told her that we could build a fort in her room and play in it. I told her that Breckin and I would be her friend. She thought her fort was pretty awesome. We baked cookies in her kitchen, played her new princess fishing game that her cousin got her for Christmas, we played dress up, she curled my hair with her plastic curling iron.  It was a little painful but at least it couldn't burn me. Brother just hung out with us and held his football. I love when your kids think you are awesome.

TUMMY TIME

I might be mean but I think it is quite funny to watch babies on their tummies grunting and hating that they aren't strong enough to keep their head up for very long. I thought I would document the torture I put Breckin through for him.
He gave up! He was mad.

HaPpY nEw YeARs!

Welcome 2011! I decided this year my resolution would be to stop spending so much money.  I love shopping, even with two kids i find it enjoyable (sometimes). I am so bad if something is on sale I find a reason why I should buy it.  So I made a list of some stuff I would like and if I work and earn the money then I can get them.  Wish me luck!

We had a small party and ate Chili and cornbread, played the Wii and then of course the guys went their own ways and played the Xbox. Savannah loved staying up late, she is such a party girl and Breckin hung out with me until the ball dropped and then went right to bed.
Austin and Savannah battled each other in sword fighting.
Savannah didn't win the battle.

Sweet little Breckin

Something special happened this New Year, Savannah is officially in Primary. She is our big sunbeam! I almost cried when I left her in opening exercises. Then I spied on her as she walked down the hall to class. She looked a little confused, I think she knew by then there would be no more toys.  I was happy though, all day after church she was humming "I am a Child of God".  She has known this song forever and would sing it all the time but probably about a year and a half ago she stopped wanting to sing all the songs she had learned. The only one she still wanted to sing was "Twinkle, Twinkle". So maybe she will start singing again. I miss her beautiful little voice.

Christmas

Well there would be so much to say about Christmas this year if only I could remember everything.  But since I don't here are a few things we did during the holiday season.

-Savannah got to put up her pink Christmas tree in her room.  She wanted one so bad last year but her Daddy said no.  Well to my surprise they had one left after Christmas for $7 so my little Savannah got her tree:)
-We drove through the Festival of Lights in Spanish Fork.  Savannah of course enjoyed that and wanted to go another round.  When she saw Santa and his reindeer she said "Santa turned into lights". I think she was a little worried he wouldn't turn back into Santa before Christmas.
- We had family over on Christmas Eve for a late breakfast, opened the cousin gifts and gifts from G. Ma and Grandpa and watched a Christmas movie, Santa Paws. Cute movie for the little ones and I even enjoyed it.

- Savannah wanted to put Santa's cookies and milk in her room this year. Before bed she told me it was okay if Santa sits in her little chair and it breaks.

- When Savannah saw the Barbi house that Santa left her she was so excited and then looked at me and said "where is my new Barbie" geez I thought I did good with the Barbie house. Note to anyone that buys their kid  a barbie house, buy a barbie. After I explained to her that she has a whole basket of Barbie's she ran upstairs to get them and played all day with it.
- We spent some of Christmas day over at Jeremy's sisters house.  It was a lot of fun, Savannah was the angel and Breckin was baby Jesus.
- We went up American Fork Canyon with the four wheelers and Jeremy's brother and pulled the kids on a huge sled. Savannah went down on the sled by herself for the first time. Usually she rides on someones lap.

We didn't get everything done that we normally like to do this year (like the gingerbread house that is still in the package) but we did enjoy spending this time with our family and learning about Christ. Hope everyone was able to spend Christmas with loved ones and remember those that might not be with us anymore.

Our "small" remodel

When we bought our house we knew eventually we would add a room upstairs. When you walk in our front door it went straight up and you could see into the loft area. This is one of the reasons why we liked this plan because we could get a little more space when we decided to. Of course the timing of the project landed in December right before Christmas so our house was a tad bit crazy. Anyways we could not be happier with the finished result. I want to thank everyone that helped us get this done. Jeremy, his brothers and one of Jeremy's friends did almost everything. They put a lot of work into the project and we couldn't have done it without them. We absolutely love it and it seems like it was built when the house was built. It is very cozy in our new loft. Here are a few pics of the addition and the mess:)

The start of the huge mess!

We added a floor or ceiling,
which ever way you look at it :)

Yes...we had child labor going on.

Putting the flooring down.

This is the new finished loft. Pictures aren't the best since I used my phone.
I have not really decorated the room yet. The old loft is now a bedroom.

The wall behind the entertainment center is the new
wall where the banister used to be and the old loft.

We had our family day at the dentist office today.  Savannah had no cavity's again so she got to keep her picture up on the "No Cavity" wall and she loves that she gets to pick out a toy and gets a new tooth brush.  She chose a pink fairy and an Ariel toothbrush. She watched Mickey Mouse while they looked for "sugar bugs".
